San Fran Adventure - Part Trois/Wine Country

After enjoying my first full night's sleep since arriving in the area I awoke to a magnificent California sun shinning through the windows of my friend's Marina area apartment. After a quick stretch and yawn I promptly got out of bed to prepare for a big day in wine country.

We stopped for a quick breakfast of homemade granola and organic yogurt and fruit at La Boulange. The fresh baked granola had the perfect amount of sweetness and crunch and the yogurt was rich and creamy. Accompanied with a steaming organic coffee, I was ready to start my day. Off to Napa in Cathy's convertible mini.

First we hit Domaine Chandon, a rather large vineyard with modern appeal and a super friendly staff. Thanks to Sus, our tastings and a fabulous bottle of bubbly were free. The sparkling wine was delicious and we learned the difference between tasting wines and bubbly.

Next, we headed to Honig, a small tasting room where we were able to sit at a table and chat while being versed on all the excellent wines we were tasting. Trying to avoid a cloudy head, we headed to our home ground, Robert Sinskey for a picnic.

After a stressful day of sipping wines and picnicking we headed to Solage hotel and spa. The rooms were the perfect balance of minimal rustic beauty. The bathrooms had enormous walk in showers fully equipped with high-end toiletries.

After a dinner of handmade gnocchi, butternut squash and hen-of-the-woods and some more amazing wines at Solbar I retired after unforgettable day in wine country.

If you need some more San Fran or Wine Country recommendations let me know. This is an aspiring foodie's paradise.
